No, voki avatars aren’t characters in James Cameron’s latest blockbuster movie.
So what exactly is a voki?
A voki is a cartoon avatar which will allow you to create a character/ audio player with a customise message that can then be published on the web (or in an email).
Visit the voki website at http://www.voki.com/
Once you sign up to voki (you just need an email address and password), you can begin creating a basic animated voki character for free.
You can customise the look of your voki to suit your preferences. The character style, player 'skin,' facial features, background, skin, hair, makeup, voice, ‘bling,’ clothes, can all be modified (as shown in the screen shot below).

You then create an audio message, using either a microphone (to record up to sixty seconds of your own voice) or the text to speech feature on the voki website (just type in the text you want your voki to say and play it back to check your message).
Once the voki character is complete, a HTML code is generated and can be embedded in a webpage, saved on your voki profile or emailed to your email address for later use.
Enjoy experimenting with this technology. Please feel free to ask me, your teacher to help you embed your voki onto this blog for you to view and use. Hope to see some vokis during the final presentations!
